About Tejaswini

Tejaswini is a 13-years old and stays with her family in Davanagere. Her father Malthesh, works as a Supervisor in a Private company and her mother Neelama looks after the house. The family stay in a rented house.

She is currently studying in 6th Std and has two siblings, a younger brother and sister. Tejaswini is not only a studious child, she is a girl with many talents. She is very interested in painting and in her free time loves to practice meditation with her family.

Medical Details

In July, she began experiencing difficulty in breathing and had developed a lump in her lymph node. Concerned, the family took her to Bapuji hospital, Davanagere. Post a blood-test, they were referred too HCG hospital, Hubli by a family member. The doctors at HCG Hubli, went through her reports and referred them to HCG hospital, Bengaluru.

On September 31st, they consulted with Dr.Sachin at HCG Bengaluru. Here she underwent a biopsy and a few blood-tests, post which she was diagnosed with T-Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. After going through her report on bone-marrow density, the family was informed that she had to undergo 4-cycles of chemotherapy and a bone-marrow transplant. 

For the next few months she will be undergoing the process of BMT.

The family has spent close to 12-lakhs until now by receiving help from family members and support of approximately 10-lakhs from ESI.

About Mohammed Saleem

Mohammed Saleem is 33-years old, married to Shazia Kousar and is the father of three children; two daughters and a son. The family stays in a rented house near Guddadahalli, Bengaluru. He works as a mechanic at a garage and when at home spends most of his time with his children.

Medical Details

In 2018, Saleem would experience frequent headaches, for which the reason was unknown. After consulting a doctor and based on his suggestion, he underwent a MRI – scan at a diagnostic centre near his house. Post which the family approached a doctor with the scan reports at Apollo Hospital, wherein the doctor confirmed that Saleem was suffering from a brain-tumour. He needed to undergo a surgery in order to remove the tumour, the question was “How would this be done?”. A family doctor suggested that treatment could be done at HCG Hospital.

At HCG Hospital, post the MRI – scan and going through the report; Dr.Sridhar suggested that he undergo CyberKnife Radiation Therapy. In 2019, he underwent CyberKnife and was on his follow-up consultations. After a while Saleem began experiencing severe headaches and blurred vision, this made the family consult the doctor once again. In 2020, he underwent another MRI – Scan and after getting the report had to undergo a Biopsy.

He is yet to undergo CyberKnife Radiation Therapy. Based on the test results, he will be undergoing treatment.

 

Financial Details

The family has already spent 5-Lakhs until now for his treatment, by taking a loan and getting help from relatives. They have exhausted all their savings and are in need of financial support for the remaining part of his treatment.

About Rahil Abbas

Rahil Abbas is a 4-year old boy, who stays with his family: Father – Mr. Jahir Abbas, Mother – Mrs. Rashmi Abbas, his uncle and his grandmother. The family hails from West-Bengal, Hooghly district. They are into farming which is their main source of income. Rahil is studying in LKG at a Government school and is a very active student, he also loves playing games and spending time with the everyone at home.

Medical Details

In September 2020, Rahil’s mother noticed that his stomach had swollen up. The concerned family took him to a government hospital in Hooghly. After a scan, the Doctor informed that his liver might have swollen up and prescribed medication for the same, however; this didn’t help in improving in his condition. The family then took him to a government hospital in Kolkata, where he underwent a blood-test and scan. Due to the lack of facilities at the hospital, the doctor suggested that he be treated at a hospital in Bengaluru.

In Bengaluru, the family approached HCG Hospital. At HCG, he had to undergo a corona test for which he tested negative; post which, he underwent a blood-test and PET-CT scan. He was then diagnosed with, ‘Acute-Lymphoblastic-Leukemia’ (ALL). Rahil Abbas, will now have to go through: – Induction-chemotherapy, Maintenance-chemotherapy, Cranial radiation and PICC line placement. He has started with his first session of induction-chemotherapy

Financial Details

The family has spent approximately twenty-thousand (INR – 20,000/-) up till now for his treatment. The estimated cost for his treatment – INR 8,60,000/-

About Zarine

Zarine is a 10-year old girl, staying with her family in Nagpur. Her father Aslam is a farmer, her mother Ruksana is a house-wife, her elder sister is studying in 7th Std and Zarine studies in 5th Std. She is a child who loves dancing and also participating in painting competitions in school.

Medical Details

In 2020, she developed a fever which wouldn’t subside, even after regular check-ups at a clinic. After consulting a family Doctor and as per his suggestion, she underwent a platelet test and the report showed that her platelet-count was low.

Concerned about her well-being, the family visited HCG-Nagpur; where they consulted with Dr.Nishad. After going through the report and conducting a bone-marrow-test, she was diagnosed with Hemophagocytic-Lymphohistiocytosis (HLH). She has been advised to undergo a Bone-Marrow-Transplant. She is currently under supportive treatment at Lata Mangeshkar Hospital, Nagpur. Once her fever comes down, she will be undergoing a Bone-Marrow-Transplant.

Parents Speak – Mr.Aslam and Mrs.Ruksana :- Our child was very active, she would paint and enjoy dancing. Now, she is bedridden and it breaks our hearts. At this point, watching her undergo so much pain has brought us to our knees; getting her fever stabilized is very challenging and she is in the ICU.

Mr.Aslam – I am ready to sell my agricultural land as it is very challenging to arrange 30-Lakhs for her BMT- treatment, to me; my daughter is my whole world and nothing else matters. I just want her to get better and recover successfully! This is our only hope, wish and prayer for our child.

Zarine, is currently undergoing her BMT treatment.

About Kalaiarasan

Kalaiarasan is a 24-year old adult staying with his family; his parents, grandmother and two younger brothers in their own house in Krishnagiri, Tamilnadu. He is final year MBA student, studying at Perumal College, Hosur. His father runs a small-scale vehicle dealership, his mother is a homemaker and his younger brothers are pursuing their degree.

Kalaiarasan, is an active Cricket enthusiast and loves playing cricket with his friends. When not playing his favorite sport, Kalaiarasan spends his time reading and studying. He is also a movie-buff, an ardent follower of the latest movies and enjoys sharing his points of view about them.

Medical Details

In August 2018, Kalaiarasan started feeling a numbness on the left side of his face and a blockage in his left nasal-tract. After consulting an ENT specialist near his home, post examination; the Doctor informed that there was a small flesh-growth in his nose and that he needed to undergo surgery. The family took him to Apollo Hospital, Chennai; for surgery, it was here once he underwent a biopsy that he was diagnosed with Nasopharyngeal-Carcinoma (NPC). The family consulted a Doctor at Manipal Hospital, to get a second opinion, where the cancer was re-confirmed. The family was informed about the line of treatment, post which; he began his treatment at Kumaran Hospital, Chennai. He underwent 7-cycles of chemotherapy and 3-cycles of maintenance chemotherapy along with radiation. After completing his treatment, he has been on his follow-up consultations once every three months and was doing well.

In September 2020, on his follow-up consultation, he underwent a PET-CT Scan, where the report showed the presence of tumor in the same place. The Doctor suggested that he needed to undergo chemotherapy again to control the growth. This time, however; after suggestions from the family they approached HCG Hospital and consulted Dr.Srinivas. After doing the needed tests, Dr.Srinivas has suggested that he needs to undergo 8-cycles of chemotherapy and 5-cycles of immunotherapy.

Parents Speak – Mr.Karuthappan and Mrs.Vijaya :- We had thought that he was completely cured, but when we got to know that the cancer had relapsed, our hearts sank. We have already spent all our savings for his first treatment and now we request you to kindly support us and help raise the amount required. You are our only hope at this moment!

We cannot see our Son suffer once again to cancer and this time we pray and hope that he recovers successfully and is back to his enthusiastic self. We need your help, kindly donate as much as you can; so that we can pay for his treatment.

About Mudassir Ahmed

Mudassir Ahmed is joyful 4-year old child who stays in a joint family in Nagpur. His father Mr.Sohail Iqbal, used to work as a medical transcriptionist and his mother Mrs.Mehar is a home-maker.

This is a family that is filled with love and positive energy, always supporting each other and spending their days sharing stories. Mudassir, loves spending time with his family and especially playing games with his cousins.

Medical Details

During the month of June 2019, Mudassir started having excruciating pain from his knees down till his toes and this pain would persist for a few hours. Initially, the family thought that he might have hurt himself while playing and took him to a pediatrician. The Doctor, upon examining him prescribed Vitamin-E medication thinking that the pain was caused due to deficiency. On noticing that his pain hadn’t reduced over the weeks, the family took him to an Orthopedic. Mudassir, underwent a few blood-tests and the reports showed the presence of infection in his blood. The Doctor suspected it to be either blood or bone cancer and to get an accurate response referred the family to HCG Hospital, Nagpur.

At HCG Hospital, he underwent specific blood tests and the reports confirmed the presence of B-CELL Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. The Doctors explained the line of treatment to the family post which, Mudassir underwent 6-cycles of chemotherapy. He is currently undergoing his maintenance chemotherapy.

Financial Details

The family has already spent approximately 10-Lakh for his treatment, by receiving support from family and friends. They also initiated a ‘WhatsApp Campaign’, for donations, from which they were able to cover the costs.
