Medical Details

In January 2015 she started feeling pain in her right breast and found a small lump. She visited a local clinic where the doctor recommended her to visit any hospital. Her neighbor suggested her to visit SK Hospital, where she was told to get a biopsy and tests from Karma lab. The results showed the presence of cancer cells. The SK hospital doctors explained the line of treatment and estimated cost for each treatment and/or test. Since they didn’t have enough money for the treatment, her husband asked the opinion of the factory owner where he worked at.

He advised them to take treatment in HCG Hospital, so Mastanaiah came with all the reports to HCG Hospital and met Dr. Shekar Patil who went through all the old reports and insisted her to undergo certain more test to confirm the line of treatment. The initially treatment started with the surgery to remove the lump, followed by 12 cycles of chemotherapy in day care and finally complete treatment with radiation. After the course of treatment, the doctor prescribed a tablet to take for 7 years along with annual check ups.

Rathna Kumari continued with the treatment course by following up for 3 years and after that she stopped because she couldn’t leave her daughters due to their health condition. After a few years there arouse a doubt whether there is a reoccurrence due to the lump coming back on her right breast.
