About Shravanth

Shravanth is 4-years old staying with his family in Dharwad. His father Mallikarjun is a farmer, his mother Nethra looks after the house and his two older sisters are studying at a government school. Due to the pandemic, Shravanth has not yet joined school.

He is a very active child at home and spends his time playing games with his sisters and the neighbour’s children.

Medical Details

On 14th September 2020 he had a fever and a slight swelling in his legs. This didn’t subside, despite the fact of taken basic antibiotics. Concerned about this development, the family took him to Hubli City Hospital to get a blood-test done. The test-report revealed an increase in his WBC, which could have stemmed from Leukaemia according to the doctor. He underwent a bone-marrow test which confirmed it to be Leukaemia.

The family was uncertain on how to proceed further, based on a suggestion from a family member they decided to come to HCG Hospital in Bengaluru to consult with Dr.Amith. After another round of bone-marrow and blood-tests, Shravanth was diagnosed with – High Risk T-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (T-ALL). The family was informed about the line of treatment, one-cycle of chemotherapy and a bone-marrow transplant.

On 22nd September, Shravanth underwent his first-cycle of chemotherapy over a span of one month. However, his body didn’t respond well to the treatment and had to undergo a bone-marrow density test. Post the results, he underwent a second-cycle of chemotherapy to reduce the count of cancer-cells. In the coming few weeks he will be undergoing a bone-marrow transplant.
